I attended the matinee performance of *Coppélia*, where Principal Dancer Megan Fairchild bid farewell after a 25-year career with the New York City Ballet, including 20 years as a prima ballerina at one of the premier ballet companies in the world. The curtain call was ecstatic, featuring a 20-minute standing ovation as colleagues, family, and friends joined her on stage to present bouquets and form a semi-circle around her, all amidst the falling glitter of a classic NYCB farewell scene.
