I attended George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® at the New York City Ballet (NYCB) on November 29, 2024. This treasured holiday favorite offers a journey of magic and wonder, where Tschaikovsky’s transcendent melodies sweep you away alongside young Marie as she encounters the fearsome Mouse King and a blizzard of ballerinas before arriving in the delectable Land of Sweets.





With awe-inspiring special effects—including an iconic Christmas tree of epic proportions—dazzling sets, and exquisite choreography, this beloved production continues to delight audiences of all ages. During the holiday season, the entire Company is dedicated to the production; 90 dancers, 62 musicians, 40 stagehands, and more than 125 children from the School of American Ballet join forces to make each performance as magical as possible.
